These baked sweet potato bites are designed as a simple lower-sodium snack. Sweet potato brings natural sweetness and colour, while paprika, garlic, black pepper and dried herbs provide flavour without needing added salt or salty sauces.
Skip added salt and build flavour with paprika, garlic, herbs, black pepper and citrus. If serving with yogurt, choose a plain variety and check the nutrition label because sodium varies by brand.
Heat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Wash the sweet potato well. Leave the skin on if preferred and cut into rounds about 1 cm thick.
Toss the rounds with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, dried herbs and black pepper until lightly coated.
Arrange in a single layer and bake for about 18–20 minutes, turning once halfway through, until tender with lightly browned edges.
Sprinkle with fresh herbs and a little lime or lemon juice. Serve warm on their own or with a small spoonful of plain yogurt.
Values are estimates per serving and exclude optional yogurt. Sodium and nutrition values can vary depending on ingredients and portions.
This recipe is intentionally prepared without added salt, but sodium content can change if dips or packaged seasonings are added. If you follow a medically prescribed sodium restriction, check product labels and follow your healthcare professional's advice.
