These banana oat energy bites are a simple no-bake snack using ripe banana for natural sweetness. Rolled oats add texture and fibre, while peanut butter helps bind the mixture and gives each bite a richer flavour.
Choose peanut butter without added sugar where possible. A very ripe banana usually provides enough sweetness without needing honey or syrup.
Mash the ripe banana in a mixing bowl until mostly smooth.
Add rolled oats, peanut butter, chia seeds, cinnamon and vanilla. Stir until evenly combined.
If the mixture feels very soft, stir in a little extra rolled oats until it can hold its shape.
Divide the mixture into about 10 portions and roll each portion gently into a small ball.
Place the bites in a covered container and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving for a firmer texture.
Approximate values per bite. Nutrition can vary depending on the peanut butter, oats and portion size used.
Peanuts and other nuts are common allergens. Use an appropriate alternative when needed and check ingredient labels carefully, especially when preparing snacks for children or groups.
